Scuba2 will be holding their monthly shore dive at North Mole on Sunday, October the 21st. This is a great site for practising your navigation skills trying to find the Gareenup wreck.

Stockton Lake

Recently I had the pleasure of camping at Stockton Lake with Scuba2 club members. I had planned to spend a weekend diving and socialising at the lake, but, work put a stop to that.
The lake was once a coal mine and has a maximum depth of 32m. On the day I was there visability was about 50cm, the reason for this, I was told, was that recent rain was being pumped from a nearby coal mine. Apparently during summer vis can be quite good.
Location
West of Collie, Western Australia.
Facilities
The camp sites are beautifully located. You must bring all your own needs including drinking water. There are flushing toilets on site. Collie is a short drive away.
Hazards
The lake gets very busy during summer and is used for waterskiing. Beware of boats and always use a dive flag.
The tunnels leading underground must NOT be entered. The silt levels inside the tunnels make them extremely dangerous. If diving in low visability ensure you do not enter the tunnels mistakenly. I cannot stress how dangerous the tunnels are.
I would recommend diving with someone familiar with site. Members of Scuba2 are planning another trip to Stockton Lake over summer.
